Beyond titles, Dr. Aikyna Finch is a presence that not only inspires but transforms. As the Vice President of DEIB at International Coaching Federation, PCC an educator, coach, and strategist of authenticity, she doesn’t just raise standards—she holds up mirrors where people can rediscover their own worth. This interview is an invitation into a space where courage has a voice, vulnerability becomes strength, and inclusion is not a concept, but a living practice.

1.Who is Dr. Aikyna Finch beyond titles and recognition?
If I had to describe myself, I’m a purpose-driven woman who turned life lessons into leadership tools. I’ve been the first, the only, and sometimes the overlooked—but never the forgotten. My journey has been about reclaiming space and helping others see their brilliance. Making thinking visible is personal to me; it’s about honoring the thoughts, ideas, and identities that were once dismissed. I live in truth, so others know living in theirs is safe. In both the digital space and the coaching world, authenticity isn’t a brand; it’s my baseline.

2.What are the core beliefs that shape your professional choices?
People deserve to be seen, heard, and equipped. That’s the heartbeat behind every program, post, and coaching session. I lead with empathy, operate with excellence, and hold space for elevation. Whether teaching in a classroom or speaking from a stage, I weave equity and empowerment into everything I do. I don’t just say people matter; I demonstrate it by building environments that reflect dignity, not just diversity.

3.A story that changed how you see coaching?
I once coached a woman who never spoke up in meetings—not because she lacked ideas, but because she never believed they had value. After just a few sessions, she told me, “You helped me hear my voice before anyone else did.” That moment reminded me that coaching isn’t about strategy—it’s about self-belief. When someone finds their voice in your presence, you don’t just witness growth; you witness liberation.

4.What does courage mean to you in the “Brave Voices” initiative?

Courage is showing up anyway. It’s saying, “I deserve to be here,” even when the room says otherwise. Courage exists in the silence before the truth is spoken, in the decision to choose self-respect over approval, and in the presence of someone who refuses to shrink. Courageous Voices isn’t just a concept; it’s a commitment to ensuring every story gets its mic moment, no matter how long silenced.

5.How do you turn vulnerability into strength?
I don’t hide the cracks; I use them to let the light in. Vulnerability isn’t weakness; it’s wisdom wrapped in truth. In my coaching, I model transparency so others know they don’t have to be perfect to be powerful. In the world, I lead from wholeness, not just highlight reels. I show up fully so others know they can, too.

6.How do you build inclusive environments, and what have you learned from the unseen?
Inclusion starts with intention and continues with investment. I ask, “Who’s missing?” and then make space before they arrive. Working with individuals with disabilities and other marginalized voices has taught me that inclusion without accessibility is just performance. I design spaces where everyone feels they belong, not just that they’re being tolerated.

7.What drives you to open doors, and how do you protect your own energy?
I open doors because someone once opened a door for me. I remember what it felt like to have potential but no platform. That memory fuels me, but wisdom sustains me. I’ve learned that generosity must be partnered with boundaries. I give from overflow, not depletion. Purpose drives me, but peace sustains me.

8.How do you know what to carry forward in your leadership journey?
I check in with my assignment, not just my ambition. As an educator, coach, and content creator, each role has taught me something unique about service and visibility. I’ve learned that just because something is good doesn’t mean it’s meant for this season. Representation has taught me that I’m not just walking for myself; I’m walking for those who are watching. So, I walk intentionally, and when necessary, I pivot without guilt.

9.How do you care for yourself in the process of visibility?
I prioritize restoration just as much as I prioritize results. My rituals include prayer, journaling, setting digital boundaries, and listening to music that lifts my spirit. I often remind myself that I am not just a resource but a person, and that person deserves care, rest, and joy.

10.What’s one message about the power of coaching you want the world to hear?
Coaching is not about telling people who to be; it’s about helping them remember who they are. It’s the sacred work of unlocking clarity, courage, and capacity. If the world could understand one thing, it’s this: the power is already inside you. Coaching simply hands you the mirror.
